As of 2024, three cases of violence against women were recorded in Barangay Tagbaobo, Island Garden City of Samal. This study used Pearson's r to examine the correlation between the level of gender-based violence and community awareness. A sample of 284 respondents was determined using Slovin's formula and proportional allocation, then selected through simple random sampling. Data was gathered using a modified survey questionnaire. Findings revealed that the level of gender-based violence was very low, with 250 respondents reporting “Never” experiencing it (Mean=1.22).rnOn the other hand, awareness of the provisions of R.A. 9262 was relatively high, as 167 respondents were “Moderately Aware” (Mean=3.83). However, the correlation between the level of gender-based violence and awareness was only weakly positive (r=0.27; p<0.001), suggesting that higher awareness of R.A. 9262 may contribute to a decrease in gender-based violence. The study highlights the importance of strengthening community education on R.A. 9262 and violence against women (VAW). It recommends impartiality among researchers, the appointment of guidance counselors to ensure participants’ well-being, and collaboration with organizations to boost awareness campaigns. Additionally, it encourages the use of digital media to challenge gender stereotypes and sustain advocacy efforts.
